Un lac a dispărut complet după sute de ani / FOTO

Pentru prima dată în istoria sa de secole, lacul Sawa din sudul Irakului a secat complet.

„Acest lac era cunoscut drept perla sudului, acum este tragedia noastră”, spune un localnic.

Hussam al-Aqouli, de 35 de ani, spune că în urmă cu numai 2 ani fiicele lui se bălăceau în apele limpezi ale lacului, însă acum vede cum pământul sterp crapă sub el.

Lacul Sawa a secat din cauza gestionării defectuoase de către investitorii locali, indiferența guvernului și a schimbărilor climatice, potrivit The Washington Post.

Este doar cea mai recentă victimă din lupta acerbă care se duce la nivelul întregii țări cu lipsa de apă, despre care experții spun că este accentuată de schimbările climatice, de precipitații reduse și de secetă îndelungată.

Lacul Sawa avea o lungime de peste 4 km și lățimea de 1 km.
